Abstract

A 5-year-old child presented with complaint of whitish discoloration in the right eye (OD), with visual acuity 20/200 OD. Ocular history was significant for blunt trauma OD 2 years ago. Slit-lamp examination revealed central, bullous Descemet membrane detachment (DMD) OD, with accumulation of turbid fluid resembling a hypopyon (Fig A-B), confirmed on anterior-segment OCT (Fig C). Ocular examination of the left eye was unremarkable. After a failed trial of neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG) laser descemetotomy OD, the fluid was successfully aspirated surgically using a 26-G needle with descemetopexy using 14% isoexpansile perfluoropropane.
