Abstract

It has been found for the first time by positron annihilation that the line-shape parameter h increases and subsequently decreases in the initial region of stage III annealing, below ≈-60°C, in quenched pure aluminium. It is deduced that the change in h parameter in this temperature region seems to correspond to the formation and sebsequent collapse of small vacancy clusters.
