Abstract
The present text has as its aim to discuss the heuristic potential of the pariah figure as the resistance figure. Therefore, we understand that the resistance is an option between freedom and necessity. This conceptual pair represents well the assumed attitude in the interior of the Jewish question by the victimized Jew, that Hannah Arendt, inspired by Max Weber, called pariah. Pariah is the Jew status in the world. However, he may be a parvenu social climber that search to safeguard his own life in detriment of the loss of rights, or a rebel, that via courage and heroic attitude get that straight with the world aiming freedom and the political rights guarantee, not only his, but of all that may be under oppression, once we understand that withstanding is an obligation of the oppressed person. In order to face these questions, we took as the central text the work The Jewish Writings by Hannah Arendt, and we chose as methodology the textual exegesis, already consecrated in the philosophical studies.
