Abstract
In this text, we argue that there is a double production of presence in Christian heavy metal shows. The Devil, who is constituted as a presence, through materialities, at first secular, which, disinterested, act in the Christian metal. First, the presence of God, in the Word, taken as an actualization of the Divine in its material dimension, invoked to purge and banish the image of the devil situated in the individual form or in the form of the legions assigned to it. Second, through organized practices in the form of ministries in charge of the so-called spiritual battles. Making diabolic gifts present and then denying them is a crusade daily reaffirmed in the Christian metal. The text has as theoretical contribution the studies on production of presence of Hans Gumbrecht (2010–2015) and field research content on Christian heavy metal, and aims at contributing to delineate one of contemporary neopentecostal practices and to discuss the articulations between ministries created to combat the devil and the heavy metal music linked to the biblical discourse. Argumentamos que nos shows de heavy metal cristão, vinculados ao neopentecostalismo, ocorre uma dupla produção de presença: de um lado, a figura do diabo que se constitui como presença produzida por meio de materialidades, em princípio seculares, que desinterditadas atuam no metal cristão; de outro, a presença de Deus, na Palavra invocada para expurgar e banir o diabo, na sua forma individual ou na forma de legiões
Os movimentos de desinterdição de mundanidades intentam atravessar seu público, infiltrando-se em espaços “sob o domínio das trevas” para travar batalhas contra este mal, numa cruzada moralista sobre os modos de vida, de maneira que os ministérios undergrounds e seu metal instrumentalizado operam por meio da Teologia do Domínio, num mundo onde a figura do diabo está introduzida em todas as áreas da vida cotidiana
