Abstract

Abstract Ecologists often lack a method of measuring turbulent water motion (“exposure”). Using the loss of weight of fixed plaster of Paris balls as a quantitative expression of the water motion, an attempt to map the “exposure” of a lentic locality is presented. The balls were calibrated in a flow canal at different velocities and temperatures.
