Abstract

The audio-lingual approach to the study of German has brought with it a need to review the presentation of German grammar. Although emphasis may be placed on the spoken language, a knowledge of the structure of the language is, we believe in our German department, essential. The traditional approach to grammar with the declension of articles, adjectives and nouns presented in paradigms is a' barrier to language expression. Such a presentation of the structure does not permit a ready recollection of forms to the student who is trying to express himself in the language.
