Abstract

1. A design and method of preparation of a fatigue damage sensor have been developed and the basic characteristics of the sensor in regular loading considered. 2. It was shown that the possibilities of use of the sensor may be broadened by the use of deformation multipliers. The design of the deformation multipliers developed was considered and their characteristics are given. 3. The influence of loading frequency, temperature, and cycle asymmetry on the sensor readings was investigated. It was established that load cycle asymmetry in the investigated range of stresses does not influence the basic characteristics of the sensor. The ranges of change in frequency and temperature in which their influence on the sensor readings is insignificant were determined. 4. The possibility was shown of the use of the fatigue damage sensor for structural elements in the presence of stress concentration.
