Abstract

In this paper a combined simulation and transient energy method is proposed. A system decomposition-aggregation and Nys tröm's numerical integration method is chosen to determine the fault trajectory as well as the transient energy along the fault trajectory. Potential energy boundary surface (PEBS) method is used to calculate the critical potential energy at UEP and consequentely the critical clearing time. Simulation tests have shown that this approach is very efficient and reliable, which seems promissing for practical implementation on-line in some power systems.
