Abstract

A single coil probe and receiver for use in pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance experiments are described. The impedance transformation properties of a one-quarter wavelength line are used to protect the receiver during the radio-frequency pulse. The probe is very efficient in its use of r.f. power to create an oscillating magnetic field, and the overall system has a fast recovery time (less than 4 μs at 30 MHz).
