Abstract

A description is given of a fast neutron polarimeter. The instrument has been used with a carbon analyzer to study the 9Be (p, n ) reaction with proton energies from 4.8 to 6.4 MeV. Spurious and undesired events are rejected by a combination of pulse shape, pulse height, and time-of-flight discrimination. The results are comparable with those obtained with a helium analyzer.
