Abstract

A simple, fast and reliable decoupled procedure for solving the network problems during short-term dynamic processes in power systems is presented. It is based on the Newton-Raphson method applied to the power balance equations, which include the effects of generator saliency and non-impedance loads, with further modifications resulting from the physical properties of the phenomena under study. Good convergence characteristics of the developed procedure are determined and a comparison is made with the traditional method based on the current equation and the triangularized admittance matrix on an example of the treatment stability analysis of the Yugoslav power grid.
