Abstract
We describe a 400-wire proportional chamber designed to generate a streamer chamber trigger on high-multiplicity events. A unique digital-to-analog technique allows us to determine in less than 750 ns that more than N wires have fired. N can be varied between 0 and 15 in this version. The chamber has been tested both with beta sources and in a beam at Fermilab. It operates reliably with greater than 99.6% efficiency over a wide voltage range.
