Abstract

A fast boundary integral equation method for three-dimensional (3D) elastodynamics in time domain is proposed. We discuss in detail the plane wave time domain (PWTD) algorithm in 3D elastodynamics, whose complexity is O(N s log 2N s N t ) or O( N s 3/2 N t), depending on the choice of the algorithms for the Legendre transform, where N s and N t are the spatial and temporal degrees of freedom, respectively. An O( N s 3/2 N t) implementation is made, whose efficiency is demonstrated in problems of the size of N s=O(10 4).
