Abstract

The problem of trend change in the mean residual life of a life distribution is of interest in the field of reliability. In this paper, we propose a family of test statistics for testing whether or not the mean residual life changes its trend when both uncensored and censored data are utilized. The asymptotic normality of the test statistics is established. The proposed tests are compared with previously known tests by Monte Carlo experiment. An example is given for the illustrative purpose.
