Abstract

In this letter, a family of improved magnetically coupled impedance network DC–DC converters is presented. Compared to other magnetically coupled boost converters, the proposed converters have extra diodes to obtain some advantages such as realizing continuous input current, having a common ground, and realizing higher voltage gains at rather small duty cycles, which are definitely more applicable to renewable energy application. The proposed magnetically coupled impedance networks have the better extensions, which includes four new magnetically coupled impedance network boost DC–DC converters named, respectively, coupled-inductor Y-source boost converter, coupled-inductor T-source boost converter, reversal coupled-inductor Γ-source boost converter, and flipped coupled-inductor Γ-source boost converter. The corresponding topologies and steady operation principles are analyzed. The simulation and experiment results have verified the validity of the theoretical analysis.
