Abstract

The hard sell against nurses and other public sector workers receiving modest, but reasonable pensions during their retirement continues. However, last week there was a chink of light as the chances increased of NHS staff winning their case for a fair deal. The government announced that it would hold separate talks with health unions over the future of the NHS pension scheme, rather than lumping all the public sector schemes together in a single set of negotiations.
