Abstract

This study presents a procedure of a second-order confirmatory factor analysis for identifying hospitality students’ work value structure. Data were collected from questionnaires completed by 511 senior hospitality students, and were divided into two sets. The first set was used to explore the underlying factor structure and three latent work value factors were derived: intangible rewards, self-fulfillment, and liberal spirit. These three latent factors can also be explained by the higher order of the latent factor–work value. The second data set was used to confirm this second-order factorial structure using confirmatory factor analysis. The fit indices showed that the model fitted the data well. This three-factor structure also showed a superior fit when compared with factor structures found in other studies.
