Abstract

AbstractPrevious research suggested that Jung's Theory of Psychological Types could best be examined by factorial methods. Two orthogonal factors of neuroticism and introversion‐extra version were hypothesized in order to explain Jung's theory. A varied neurotic population was examined on a large battery of tests, and factors identified as ‘neuroticism’, ‘g’ and ‘introversion‐extra version’ extracted. Further evidence confirming Jung's theories was given by using regression equations and factor scores which enabled criterion groups not included in the original matrix to be correctly identified.
