Abstract

Electrospun nanofibrous materials have been the focus of research during the last decade. A large number of different materials have been electrospun into nanowebs. Similarly, many different techniques have been developed to characterize these highly sensitive materials. However, mechanical characterization of these nano materials has been a problem since their initial development. This study focuses on development of a suitable sample preparation procedure for tensile testing of electrospun Polyamide-6 nanowebs. The developed method is not only precise and accurate but can also be performed with simple laboratory equipments. It is concluded that the method can be significantly employed in mechanical characterization of nanowebs.
