Abstract

Public education in Brazil is the result of innumerable influences and modifications. In this article, the focus will be the 20th century, period of great scientific and technological development and expansion of education. The method used in this study was a bibliographical one in which the aim was to discuss the educational legacy of the twentieth century, the formation of the School Groups and the Manifesto of the New Education Pioneers. These are necessary elements for understanding how education in Brazil was produced in this period.
