Abstract

Since the emergence of sociology as a discipline of scientific knowledge, education presents itself as one of the main objects of investigation of sociological thought. This article, precisely, has as main objective to construct a theoretical reflection about the education within the framework of the functionalist sociological tradition. More precisely, the article develops a comparative analysis of the ideas of three eminent sociologists - Emile Durkheim, Talcott Parsons and Niklas Luhmann - in order to demonstrate how each of them conceives education.
