Abstract

The Jeans criterion does not apply to the Newtonian ‘open’ universe. If the sound velocity Vs approaches a positive value for late times (⁠|$t\rightarrow \infty$|⁠) the amplitudes of inhomogeneities are restrained irrespective of their length-scales.
