Abstract

An attempt has been made to investigate analytically the mechanical response in a N-electrode piezoquartz bar such that two consecutive electrodes are separated by an unelectroded region under electrical and thermal excitations employing the equations of Maxwell, the equation of steady heat flow, and the relevant piezoelectric constitutive equations. The method of operational calculus and Green’s function have been used. The numerical results illustrate disturbances of the order of 10−7 m for a time scale ranging from t=0.1 to 1 s and the response becomes a linear function of time.
