Abstract

This paper is based on the guiding ideology of General Secretary Xi Jinping, which is to tell the story of China, to spread the voice of China and to achieve the goal of cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations. Taking Confucius Institute at Musashino University in Japan as the research object, the authors aim to study the activities of spreading Chinese culture for cultural exchange and mutual learning. From the perspective of the combination of pedagogy and sociology, we focus on the dynamic development of Confucius Institute in carrying out international Chinese education, spreading Chinese culture and achieving the goal of cultural exchange and mutual learning. Through a comprehensive investigation of the “initial stage” of international Chinese education in Confucius Institutes, this paper discusses the path of spreading Chinese culture and exchanging and learning from each other in Confucius Institutes, combines the construction of Confucius Institutes with the domestic and international environment, and breaks through the single interpretation of teaching activities. The research includes the process and effect of Confucius Institute's spreading Chinese culture activities, especially its role in the exchange and mutual learning activities of universities. It is of importance and value to build a new model of international Chinese education, enrich the theory of Chinese cultural communication, and expand the research perspective of cultural exchange and mutual learning activities.
