Abstract

A DyIII single-ion magnet [Dy(L1)(L2)] (1, HL1 = (E)-2-(((3-aminopropyl)imino)methyl) phenol, H2L2 = 2,2′-((1E,1′E)-(propane-1,3-diylbis(azaneylylidene))bis(methaneylylidene))diphenol) was synthesized by self-assembly of dysprosium nitrate hexahydrate, 1,3‑diaminopropane and salicylaldehyde under solvothermal method. As far as we know, complex 1 synthesized in this work is the highest Ueff of pentagonal bipyramidal with four neutral nitrogen atoms and one oxygen anion occupying the equatorial plane, while the axis is occupied by two oxygen atoms, in DyIII single-molecule magnets. Magnetic characterizations reveal that complex 1 exhibit slow magnetic relaxation behavior with Ueff = 95.98 K and τ0 = 8.76 × 10-7 s.
