Abstract

The reaction 12C(d, p γ) 13C 3.68, 3.85 was studied at deuteron bombarding energies of 2.80, 3.23 and 3.70 MeV. Angular distributions were measured for the stripping reactions and for the 12C(d, d) 12C and 13C elastic scattering. Distorted wave Born approximation calculations were made with the use of optical model potentials which fit the measured elastic scattering, and the results were compared with the stripping angular distributions, and previously measured (d, p γ) angular correlation parameters. The spectroscopic factors obtained agree with the values known from higher energy data. Reasonable fits to the angular distributions and qualitative fits to the angular correlation parameters over most of the angular range were obtained. The optical-model parameters do not vary smoothly with energy butthose which fit the measured elastic scattering agree well with those giving the best stripping fits.
