Abstract

This paper presents a dual-mode SIW filter with tunable frequency, reconfigurable bandwidth and adjustable transmission zero. Two copper posts are loaded in two diagonal positions of a square-shaped SIW resonator, five surface-side ring-shaped slot resonators and corresponding tuning elements are respectively placed in the proper positions where the electric field strength of diagonal TE 101 , diagonal TE 201 , and TE 102 modes is the largest. By changing the capacitance values of the five tuning elements, it is possible to realize not only frequency tuning, but also bandwidth reconfiguration and transmission zero adjustment. Simulation results show that the presented filter exhibits a tuning range from 3.03 GHz to 3.78 GHz with insertion loss variation of 0.75–1.6dB and a BW range of 40–80 MHz around 3.75 GHz.
