Abstract

A dual-band wideband high gain planar antenna is proposed for radar applications in this paper. Two sets of radiation patches designed based on planar horn antenna with a common symmetry axis are printed on the same surface of the dielectric substrate to radiate dual band signals respectively, while the microstrip line feed structure is printed on the other surface. Simulation shows that the antenna can achieve dual-band radiation of 400MHz~548MHz and 850MHz~960MHz, realizing low-frequency radiation, suitable for detection applications. The antenna has stable unidirectional radiation and good performance in time domain. The gain ranges from 5dB to 7.75dB over the dual working bands.
