Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new design of a dual-band wide-angle and polarization-independent metasurface (MS) for electromagnetic power harvesting. The harvester is constructed of a periodic array of sub-wavelength square closed-ring MS backed by a metal ground. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed MS energy harvesting element or array can keep more than 84% of RF power efficiency for a wide range and arbitrary polarization of incident angles in dual-band. The proposed MS structure which has the great advantage of subwavelength, polarization insensitivity, angle stability, high efficiency and easy to conformal, are suitable for ambient power harvesting and wireless power transfer.
