Abstract

A dual-simplified extended composite right/left handed (DSE-CRLH) transmission line (TL), whose transmission characteristics are tunable by the structure variables, is presented for dual-band applications. DSE-CRLH TL exhibits LH-RH-notched-RH characteristics, which provide a possibility to realise the dual passband performance. The dual passband behaviour can be achieved with a non-dual circuit style and only one balanced condition is needed in this case. The dispersion relation and frequency response of DSE-CRLH TL are analysed by circuit theory, Bloch-Floquet theory and full wave simulation. Demonstrations of DSE-CRLH TL implemented with the multi-layer printed circuit board micro-strip technology are designed, fabricated and measured. The measurement results are in agreement with the simulation results.
