Abstract
The need for a training simulator for power system operators is met by a design concept that also addresses a concomitant, though not as widely-recognized, need for a simulator to test the control computer. The Training and Testing Simulator (TTS) is a highly cost/effective solution offering benefits not available in other simulator methods. The TTS duplicates exactly the behavior of the hardware-software complex of the control computer thus meeting a prime requisite of training simulators. This capability makes the TTS ideal for testing and evaluating the performance of real-time control systems.
