Abstract

A design procedure and experimental results are presented for a high-gain dual-band, dual-polarization Ka-band (Tx=30 GHz, Rx=20 GHz) flat reflector. The performance of the flat reflector system is compared with a conventional Cassegrain reflector of similar size to demonstrate the viability of flat reflector technology in high-gain transmit–receive applications. Several variations of the Cassegrain flat reflector were designed, fabricated, and tested with offset and broadside beams. The transmit gain for these antennas is on the order of 40.0 dBi with a 5% gain bandwidth. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 24: 7–11, 2000.
