Abstract

Secret communication can be achieved by utilizing different encryption methodologies. In current scenario, security for images required more attention, specifically when sensitive images are communicated over insecure public domain networks. A new dual layer image cryptosystem is developed by combining two chaotic maps. The proposed image cryptosystem is the combination of key generation, confusion and diffusion process. Chaotic key series are generated using Arnold cat map and two dimensional logistic map. In confusion phase the pixel positions are scrambled. The generated chaotic key image of two dimensional logistic map and confused image are arranged as a blocks and all blocks are shuffled using Arnold cat map. The shuffled chaotic block series are used to diffuse the confused block image. Simulation results on default standard test images and comparison with recent existing encryption schemes evidenced the dominance of the proposed scheme.
