Abstract

For the problem of insufficient executable time of scheduling algorithm in the FTSA (Feedback-based Two-stage Switch Architecture), an improved solution named DFTSA (Dual-Feedback-based Two-stage Switch Architecture) is presented in this paper. A dual-feedback mechanism introduced by DFTSA is that each middle port sends the real-time N-bit occupancy information of its N subqueues to output port twice a time slot, once at the beginning and once at the ending. These two N-bit data will be delivered to the right input port at the right time with very little cost. In this way, the scheduling algorithm can obtain the necessary data ahead of time so as to start early. Compared with FTSA, DFTSA can provide a duration of more than one time slot for the algorithm to execute and thus will enhance the practical feasibility significantly.
