Abstract

A smooth-walled horn is often preferred over a corrugated horn due to easier and cheaper manufacturing. In this paper a spline-profile horn with low cross polarization is designed suited for a satellite system. By optimizing the position of 28 nodes of spline function, which controls the horn profile, design aim can be arrived. Simulated result by CHAMP software shows that the horn has XPD>34.5dB, and return loss is better than 30 dB in two bands. In addition, on-axis directivity of the horn is better than 18 dB in two bands.
