Abstract

We have presented the design of a CMOS integrated dual band direct conversion RF frontend compliant with DVB-H standard. Among various receiver architectures, direct conversion architecture was selected due to its low complexity, low power feasibility, and need of few external components. The previous direct conversion RF front-end has some serious problem such as flicker noise and need of external balun. Also, the required linearity performance is very tough in mobile TV receiver because of the coexistence of undesired strong interferers at the nearby channels. In this work a passive mixer with TIA is adopted and the required noise figure and linearity can be satisfied. The designed CMOS RF receiver front end also can cover dual band: UHF for DVB-H and L-band.
