Abstract

Recently COHEN-TANNOUDJI et al. (1) have proposed a new model amplitude which fulfills crossing symmetry and Mandclstam analyticity and which is dual in the sense that the same term contains Regge poles in the crossed channel at high energies and resonances at low energies. However, there is no reason for almost linear trajectories in this form and there is no connection to the Veneziano function (2) in the narrow-resonance approximation. I t will be evident from our discussion that strong poles of second order arise on daughter level as a consequence of their ansatz. We propose the following modified amplitude:
