Abstract

With the increased study of populations to identify marker-trait associations, the doubled haploid population has become the preference (Lu et al., 1996; Pauls, 1996). Traits important to anther culture have been marked with microsatellites. He et al. (1998) identified markers for four rice anther culture traits on an indica x japonica DH population. They found that QTL for green plant yield were not independent of callus induction and green plant differentiation, which confirmed similar findings in maize. We are reporting a DH population derived from a cross between indica and tropical japonica varieties and its genetic analysis.
