Abstract
This report describes an immunoperoxidase technique to locate two antigens in the same tissue section, using two chromogens. Our double-staining method eliminates the potentially carcinogenic chemical 3,3'-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride, which has been employed in such methods previously reported. Utilizing hyperplastic tonsil sections, we have stained reactive plasma cells for kappa and lambda light chains, using 3-amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC) and 4-chloro-1-naphthol (4CN), with contrasting colors.
