Abstract
Characteristics of low background needle counter are described. 100% detection efficiency of samples up to 10 mm in diameter has been obtained. The lowest measured background was 0.045 cpm. The radioactivity of construction materials and the half-life of 87Rb have been investigated in test experiments.
