Abstract
Propõe-se analisar as noções de dor enquanto paixão presente em alguns escritos expressivos do pensamento pré-cartesiano e da medicina anterior às especializações contemporâneas. Em suma, a dor seria uma paixão própria do humano, manifestando-se no corpo e na alma, sempre referida ou misturada ao prazer, seu contrário por definição. Propõe-se também um breve paralelo com o pensamento freudiano sobre a dor.
