Abstract

AbstractTurning the social research lens on to the process of social research itself, this chapter aims to raise awareness of the significant contributions of social science research to broad development debate and policy discussions. It briefly reviews contributions of social science to development efforts that received significant donor support and were carried out or formulated within the CGIAR system. It then discusses the recent influence of social science research on several new policy directions. The chapter concludes by suggesting how donors can continue to support social science research within the CGIAR system as well as in its linkages with key development stakeholders.
