Abstract

Abstract The stability of congestion control protocols is of great concern in modern computer networks. In particular, the problem of local stability of a congestion control protocol over a general topology with link delay is not yet completely answered. This paper works on this problem. We consider a particular class of link static congestion control protocols in general networks. In pursuit of a distributed stability certificate, we first revisit and extend the classical results. Thereafter, we propose and derive a Gershgorin type stability certificate for this class of protocols. This result is further substantiated by a flow-level simulation.
