Abstract

The capacity of data acquisition systems will improve by an order of magnitude with the advent of the new highbandwidth network technology. Data acquisition systems will really be scalable. To be in the front line of the application of this new technology, we participate in the Dutch national asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) pilot project SURFnet4. In this framework we have initiated a project: "Remote data acquisition and analysis." The aim is to have an ATM network between remote VME front-ends and controlling and monitoring workstations.
