Abstract

The quasi-reversible electroreduction process of the Zn 2+ in absence and in presence of N,N ′-dimethylthiourea (DMTU) were quantitatively compared. It has been proved that enhanced in presence of DMTU cyclic voltammetry (CV) and normal pulse polarography (NPP) response is complex and can be resolved into its regular reduction part and a part caused by catalytic influence of adsorption of organic substance. The part of faradaic current due to adsorption effect alone has the form of the probabilistic Gaussian shaped curve and is an isolated new form of electrochemical response not described in electrode kinetics so far. The disclosed form of electrochemical response is expected to be useful in investigation of adsorption and kinetic phenomena.
