Abstract

Background: According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. Approximately 30% of all cancer deaths are associated with risk factors that are modifiable. Of all cancers, colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of death in the United States. In evaluation of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program (SEER) data, the death rate from CRC in African Americans (AA) is higher than any other racial or ethnic group in the U.S.
