Abstract

Objective To analyze the characteristics of thumb duplication based on Wassel' s classification.Methods Clinical materials of 312 patients of 325 thumbs treated between January 2002 and February 2012 were collected.A retrospective review of these cases including patient age,gender,affected side and imaging presentations was conducted.Results The ratio of Wassel type Ⅶ thumb duplication was markedly increased.This finding was different from reports from other foreign and domestic studies.A total of 28 hands could not be classified according to Wassel's classification.Conclusion There have been some changes in the type distribution.The current Wassel's classification cannot cover all clinical cases.
