Abstract

Sensorless control of PMS (Permanent Magnet Synchronous) motors is gaining increasing importance in the embedded systems community, as it allows the removal of sensors at the advantage of dimension reduction. Nevertheless, due to limited computational capability of small integrated electronics, it is crucial to develop sensorless techniques with ease of implementation. In this work, a Direct Flux Observer technique for sensorless control of PMS motors is presented with particular focus on the requirements needed for a successful implementation on modern microcontrollers.
