Abstract

A new method for the determination of lysergic acid amide, clavine alkaloids and isolysergic acid amide in extracts of morning glory seeds is described. The method is based on direct automatic densitometry of spots after chromatography on thin-layer plates. The method is more accurate and less time-consuming than existing ones. Several types of alkaloidal patters were found from the investigation of various varieties of the genus Ipomoea.
