Abstract
The municipality of Sorriso, located in the northern state of Mato Grosso, emerged in the mid -1970s, the period in which the federal government encouraged the colonization of land in the region. In 1986 gave up their emancipation. In recent decades the city has been distinguishing themselves in the scenario of 'agribusiness' by record production of agricultural commodities, especially soy. In this way, as point data research institutes in Brazil, the municipality have high growth in economic (GDP, per capita income), as well as enhanced performance with regard to the social aspect (human development index). Therefore, this study aimed to „analyze the dynamics of economic growth, income distribution and development of the regional municipality of Sorriso in 2010'. With regard to methodology, 362 questionnaires were applied in 21 districts of the municipality. From the data were verified individual and family incomes per capita, which allowed to calculate the distribution of income. From the descriptive analysis met high income inequality in 2010. There is a need for policies to encourage industrialization and diversification of the economy to promote regional development.
